A Paw-Some Holiday

An entire experience with dogs in mind, not as an afterthought
Each cabin sits immersed in the landscape, with direct access to open countryside, woodland, and walking routes right from the doorstep. No busy lobbies.
No neighbours – a quieter kind of stay that suits dogs who prefer their space. No leads required the moment you step outside (unless there’s livestock, of course). Just space to roam, sniff, and settle after a great adventure.

Many of Shacks’ cabins feature fully enclosed outdoor areas, giving dogs the freedom to explore safely while their owners slow down – morning coffee in hand, or sinking into an outdoor bath as the light fades.
On arrival, they’re welcomed with their own Canine Menu hamper – training treats, a long-lasting chew, an ‘earl greyhound’ teabag for a dog friendly brew, poo bags and a few playful activity cards. You’ll also find a soft dog towel and bowl ready and waiting, with some shacks offering an outdoor shower for rinsing off muddy paws after a day well spent.
Inside, the experience is intentionally simple. No fragile interiors or off-limits spaces. Just a warm, comfortable place to land after a long day outdoors – muddy paws welcome. And yes, they are allowed to join you on the bed if you want them to.
It’s this shift – from allowing dogs to actively designing for them – that’s striking a chord. In 2025 alone, Shacks hosted over 768 dogs across its stays, reflecting a wider movement: people are choosing holidays that feel as good for their dogs as they do for themselves.
There’s also a deeper reason these stays resonate.
Time spent in nature has been shown to reduce stress and support overall wellbeing – for humans and dogs alike. Long walks, new scents, fresh air, and the absence of overstimulation create a calmer, more balanced rhythm for both. And perhaps that’s the real luxury here.
Not just that dogs are allowed – but that they belong. That they can run freely, rest deeply, and share in the experience fully. Because the best holidays aren’t just dog friendly. They’re dog-first.
